Q. What is a Holistic Nutritionist?
A Holistic nutritionist is someone has received special training that helps
support people who are ill, want to prevent illness and live a generally healthy lifestyle. They are experts at looking at the entire picture of a person and by doing this they can identify which areas of the body need support and can then provide personalized nutritional information to help that individual. By adding in
nutrient dense foods and supplements to support organs and bodily systems, it can have a positive effect on your health and wellbeing. Holistic nutritionists work to bring balance back to the body and to make you feel well again. It is amazing how small adjustments to your diet and how adding in nutrients and minerals into your daily routine will change the way you feel!
Q: What is the difference between a Holistic Nutritionist and a Dietician?
A Holistic nutritionist focuses on making you feel better by helping you make informed eating choices based on food sensitivities, diet preference and lifestyle. They will also help you eliminate foods that do not make you feel well. Holistic nutritionists are researched based and they will do a deep dive into your condition as well as a full intake to then provide you with a personalized therapeutic diet and supplementation plan. A Dietician must follow the Canadian Food guide and therefore is more focused on making sure you are
following governmental suggestions, instead of concentrating on the foods that make you feel better and removing those that are making you feel worse.
Q. Why work with a Holistic Nutritionist?
Right now there is so much misinformation floating around on the internet and in books that many people are hearing about a super foods, diet trends and
new supplements and following them without knowing if they are the right thing to do for their body. A Holistic nutritionist will work closely with you to find out what nutrients your body is lacking and what diet and supplements would complement your body composition. Many people want to go vegan, for example, but don’t realize they can actually cause damage to their body by not consuming enough complete proteins and taking the right supplements to support this dietary change. In this day and age, our food is not as nutrient dense as it once was as there are so many chemicals being sprayed on our fruits and vegetables and there are so many processed foods in our grocery stores. It can be overwhelming to know what foods to buy organic and which meats are
the healthiest for us. A Holistic nutritionist helps to take the guess work out of what you should be eating and how much of it you need to reap the nutritional benefits as we provide you with personalized plans that suit your needs. Working with a Holistic nutritionist you will learn about what your body needs to reach its full potential and you will gain the knowledge on what foods are beneficial to you and which ones you should avoid.
