What Are Orthotics?
Custom Foot Orthotics are specially designed devices that are worn inside the shoe to control abnormal foot function and/or may accommodate areas of foot pain. The result of the foot orthotics controlling the dysfunction within the foot may lead to decreased pain and dramatic improvement in foot symptoms.
Who Needs to Wear Orthotics?
Individuals who experience mild to severe discomfort in the foot, knee and the low back may benefit from an orthotic insole. The feet are the foundation to the body, and if they are not structually stable then further up the mechanical chain can lead to dysfunction (see picture). A detailed assessment from a footwear and orthotic expert can confirm if a foot orthotic will assist an individual with a particular foot, leg or even back problems.
Why is it Different From Off The Shelf Insoles?
Here at Full Function we observe the body and the fott mechanics to
determine the exact match of your foot’s anatomical dysfunction. We proceed to cast the custom foot orthotic and make modifications to help correct your alignment. The process is quick, painless and precise.
Foot Orthotics are covered under most insurance plans.
For athletes, custom orthotics can decrease muscle stress and fatigue, while increasing balance, performance, and agility.
High impact sports, which include lots of running and jumping (i.e. running, soccer, basketball), can create added stress on the joints and muscles. Custom orthotics can work as shock absorbers to lessen the stress.
